As a supporter of Friends of Wellfleet Ponds, you already understand how special Wellfleet’s freshwater ponds are and how important it is to protect them. Your support is helping to build a strong community of advocates dedicated to preserving these remarkable ponds and their ecosystems for future generations.
Now we invite you to take the next step: become a volunteer.
Whether by contributing a few hours during the summer or participating throughout the year, volunteers play a critical role in helping FWP advance its mission of pond protection, education, and stewardship.
Volunteer Opportunities for Supporters
Training will be provided and all new volunteers will be teamed with experienced FWP volunteers.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Help distribute the Pond Lover’s Guide, which lists simple practices we can all engage in to protect pond health.
Post it on bulletin boards.
Ask shop owners to display it in their windows and ask to place it in literature racks.
Hand it out to family, friends, and neighbors.
EVENTS & PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
Represent Friends of Wellfleet Ponds at community events.
Staff our information table at the Wellfleet Farmers Market, which is held weekly on Wednesday mornings from June through September.
March in the FWP contingent in the Wellfleet Fourth of July parade.
Volunteer to help with Gull Pond outreach events for children on Thursday afternoons during July and August. FWP will be hosting a children’s story time at the pond beach with a focus on frogs and tadpoles.
Staff our information table at community meetings, including FWP educational presentations at the Wellfleet Historical Society and other community events.
Help with the FWP Annual Meeting, which is July 16. Publicize it through posting and circulating the meeting flyer. Help setup and staff hospitality and information tables at the event.
Staff our booth at the Wellfleet Oysterfest, October 17 & 18.
FWP NEWSLETTER
Help produce the FWP quarterly digital newsletter by assisting with writing, editing, photography, and layout.
TECH HELP
Lend a hand with technical support in any of these areas:
Website development and management
Zeffy platform for fundraising and donor management
Google Drive organization and sharing
Google for Nonprofits setup and troubleshooting
