Williams Pond

About the Pond
Williams Pond covers an area of 8-1/2 acres, and is shallow, with a maximum depth of 7 feet. The pond is named after the Williams family, who are believed to have first settled in Wellfleet in the mid-1700s. The Williams family established itself in fishing, farming, and trade, contributing to the community’s development. Williams Pond is connected by sluices to Gull and Higgins ponds. The sluices allow for the movement of water, creating a dynamic aquatic environment, benefiting both aquatic life and recreational users.
