A Call To Action
Preserving Wellfleet’s Pristine Ponds
We are year-round residents, seasonal residents, and visitors. We love the wonderful ponds where we swim, play, relax and spend time with family and friends. Many of us have long enjoyed, and even taken for granted, these sparklingly clear and beautiful pristine ponds of Wellfleet.
But today, as elsewhere on the Cape, there is growing evidence that our ponds are threatened by the unprecedented rise in water and air temperature coupled with rising levels of nitrogen and phosphorus, both of which feed the growth of invasive plants and toxic algae, jeopardizing the ponds we love. To preserve and protect our health and the health of our freshwater ponds, we must take action now.
